Water is essential for life, yet tap water passes through unreliable pipes and is exposed to numerous contaminants. SMART is a water purifier designed for the kitchen, providing clean drinking water by purifying tap water. Its 4-step filtration system removes most contaminants, including rust, calcium, chlorine, fine particles, bacteria, and unpleasant odors and tastes. The design focuses on ease of use, making it simple to operate despite its complex functionality.
Simple, Easy, Quick User Interface
The design was centered around ease of use for all users. The touch screen allows for quick adjustments, with temperature changes in 5°C increments and quantity adjustments in 50ml increments. SMART also provides useful information, such as quick recipes, the current time, and weather updates, all of which are helpful while cooking in the kitchen. *Weather icons courtesy of Kevin Li.
Perfect Combination of Product & UI
SMART delivers precise and accurate functionality, and these features are seamlessly integrated into both the external design and user interface. For a sleek, accurate appearance, aluminum material was used for the body cover, and external parting lines were minimized to simplify the design. To maintain a unified look, a sans-serif font with sharp edges was chosen for the GUI.

Universal Design
VLND embraced the universal design philosophy: "Products should be easily used by everyone." The screen displays information in large, clear text, making it accessible for people with visual impairments and the elderly. Users can easily obtain the exact amount of clean water at the desired temperature, enhancing convenience and ensuring precise control during cooking.

SMART offers a new experience for a healthier daily life, providing a glimpse into the future of user-friendly technology with a focus on human-centered design.
